چکیده

The low energy excitation of the rotating D3-branes is thermodynamically stable up to a critical angular momentum density. This indicates that there is a corresponding phase transition of the N=4 large N super Yang-Mills theory at finite temperature. On the side of supergravity, we investigate the phase transition in the grand canonical ensemble and canonical ensemble. Some critical exponents of thermodynamic quantities are calculated. They obey the static scaling laws. Using the scaling laws related to the correlation length, we get the critical exponents of the correlation function of gauge field. The thermodynamic stability of low energy excitations of the rotating M5branes and rotating M2-branes is also studied and similar critical behavior is observed. We find that the critical point is shifted in the different ensembles and there is no critical point in the canonical ensemble for the rotating M2branes. We also discuss the Hawking-Page transition for these rotating branes. In the grand canonical ensemble, the Hawking-Page transition does not occur. In the canonical ensemble, however, the Hawking-Page transition may appear for the rotating D3and M5-branes, but not for the rotating M2-branes. Localization instability in the rotating D-branes

In the microcanonical ensemble for string theory on AdSm × Sn, there is a phase transition between a black hole solution extended over the Sn and a solution localized on the Sn if the AdSm has the topology R 2 × Sm−2. The phase transition will not appear if the AdSm has the topology R 2 × Tm−2, that is, when the AdSm × Sn geometry is regarded as arising from the nearhorizon limit of a black m −...

Numerical Investigation of Rotating-Stall in a Stage of an Axial Compressor with Two Different Approaches

An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. To validate the solver, two test cases were prepared and the computed results had good agreements with reference data. The rotating...

Fragmentation of Spinning Branes

The near-horizon geometries of the spinning D3-, M2and M5-branes are examined by the probes immersed in a co-rotating frame. It is found that the geometries become unstable at critical values of the spin angular velocity by emitting the branes. We show that this instability corresponds to the metastability of the black hole systems and different from the known (local) thermodynamic instability....

Flow Re-Stabilizing Observation via Air Injection during the Rotating Stall through a Single-stage Axial Compressor by a 2-D Finite-volume Approach

The air-injection as an active flow stabilizing techniques, were numerically examined in current work, during the aerodynamic behavior and the characteristics of an axial compressor. At first, in design condition the characteristic curve was numerically captured for a specified test compressor. The computed results showed good agreements with those obtained from the experiments, to validate the...
